AUGUST ACTIVITIES

Judith and Hannah with Hey You after a riding lesson.

Banana split time at the TC Ranch Round–Up.

Hannah getting last minute instruction prior to showing for the first time.

TC Foreman 016 heifer winning Reserve Grand Champion at the NE State Fair.

Vance and the grandchildren helping celebrate 95th birthday.
We enjoyed the two-week visit of Judith who is from Australia. She is in the US on a scholarship given by the Australian Angus Association. The later part of the month she went to Michigan State University to begin a semester of college. She gave Hannah a couple of riding lessons, helped round up cattle and learned about crop farming. She is a bright gal and we hope she comes back real soon.

Vance judged the Wisconsin State Fair Angus Show. He enjoyed several cattle stops on his way and seeing how the bulls he had sold grew out.

While Vance was gone I made preparations for our Annual TC Ranch Round Up. This is a thank you to our customers and friends to just come and enjoy some visiting along with supper and they have fun making their own banana splits. The guys had a group of bull and heifer calves rounded-up in the pasture for those who want to see cattle. We thank all who took time to come and welcome you to come any time.

Dru judged in Rapid City at the Central States Fair. He judged other breeds as well as Angus. On the way he stopped to see TC Stout and reported that Stout looked really good.

Hannah, age 8, had wanted a heifer so the guys got in a couple of fall heifers and then decided to show them at the NE State Fair. Both heifers were in the same class so Dru showed one as well as Hannah –Dru's heifer, a TC Foreman 016 daughter, won the class and went on to be Reserve Grand Champion. Hannah's heifer, a TC Freedom 104 daughter, placed second. Hannah did a good job for her first time and she enjoys the animals. She also seemed to enjoy the social life at the fair. Once when I saw her with two little boys – told her folks I am glad I'm not her parents when she is 16 !

Vance judged the Simmental and the Hereford show at the NE State Fair. The Hereford champion bull went on to be the Supreme Champion and the heifer was in high demand to be purchased – guess he got those animals placed right.

Big Red volleyball is off to a great start.

Nebraska is ranked No.1 and started the season with a tournament with 3 teams ranked in the top 6. We did sweep the tournament and it looks like our No.1 rating could remain all season.

This month we had another big birthday. Vance's mother celebrated No.95. We don't have many relatives but 6 distant second cousins came and a grandson and his family.

Since we celebrated a 95th birthday this month, I leave you with . . .
