Enjoying Christmas with the grandchildren

To all my faithful monthly readers – yes I know I am way behind on my diary. But you know I have many excuses – but one of my Iowa friends is calling it "grandma itis."

OCTOBER – The next generation has arrived. Tavin Cain Uden was born October 14 and weighed 6 lb. 8 oz. He spent the his first 21 days in NICU. His EPDs are: BW -0.1 WW +31 Milk +23 YW +92. There were many anxious times and setbacks but today's medicine is powerful.

The guys worked hard getting ready for our female sale, Vance judged at the American Royal and Big Red football was not having their best season but Big Red volleyball was on a winning streak.

NOVEMBER - November 3 we had our female sale. It was very good and we were more than pleased. Had a nice day and a big crowd. Vance went to Louisville for the National Angus meeting and show. Spent Thanksgiving in the Colorado Rockies, and then Vance and Dru went to Montana to check on some cattle.

DECEMBER - We tried to cheer on Big Red volleyball but our young team lost in the regional finals. But with only one senior we should be powerful next year.

We received an early Christmas present as Dru's adoption of Hannah became official December 20 – of course we had already claimed her.

Our family was all together for Christmas... and it was great with the grandchildren, our Mothers (who are 92 and 94 years old), and our son from Montana was home for a week – we all enjoyed the time together.

With the birth of Tavin Cain, I leave you with this quote that was in the NICU in the hospital where Tavin received good care…
