TC Diary

AUGUST ACTIVITIES

8067. Selling this tremendous producer of herd bulls, TC Foreman 016 and TC Grid Topper 335. Five natural calves at 98 BR, 5@116 WR, 5@110 YR; and 23 calves @ 108 IMF and 23@101 RE.

Before starting to write this I didn’t think August had been a really full month — but decided that was not correct when checking back on the calendar.

Vance and Dru spent time picking out top females for our sale November 1. Since we do not have a female sale every year they are able to cut deeper into the herd. We have had many visitors this month so some of these people gave good suggestions. If you want more information and pictures click on TC Sale.

2047. Selling the dam of the Select Sires up-and-coming TC Total — the $85,000 top-selling bull at the 2005 TC Ranch Sale.

6073. Selling a top set of TC Freedom heifers. This one is out of a Sitz Alliance dam.

6114. A top show and brood cow prospect by Sitz Tradition 8702 from a Jethro X Alliance bred dam.

5073. A top TC Foreman bred heifer bred to Mytty In Focus.

6187. A top daughter of TC Grid Topper out of a Bon View New Design 878 dam.

0172. A full sister to the ABS calving-ease sire TC Advantage.

3013. A three-year-old daughter of Future Direction with a top TC Total heifer calf.

6100. A top TC Total heifer from a Bon View Spectrum dam.

Vance enjoyed the Kansas and Nebraska Angus tours and saw a lot of TC breeding. It is interesting to look at the different animals bred different ways and then evaluate their progeny. We are always pleased to know that TC cattle are working well for others — makes one proud. We certainly do thank all of those who worked hard to make those tours successful.

Dru had the honor of judging the Angus plus four other beef breeds at the Missouri State Fair for three days. He was a little tired as the temperature was around 100 degrees and with that good Missouri humidity - all we can say is it was typical Missouri summer time.

Not sure if we are ahead or behind in our work, but a month early we cut silage due to the drought. We put up more than usual due to the fact that we have very little hay. But we did finally get a couple of inches of rain the last of the month. It was certainly welcome as we are on seven plus years of drought...yet need many more inches. Water continues to be a big problem here in the Republican Valley, where we are located.

All smiles on the mule.

We celebrated Vance's mother's 96th birthday by having three of her friends over for lunch and then playing cards. She lives alone in her own home and likes to play cards.

Tavin likes to see the tractors and ride in the "mule." Hannah is getting her first driving lessons on the mule. Hannah has attended several plays and always thought it would be fun to be a character in a play. This month she did her first acting and was in "Annie Get Your Gun." She really did enjoy it and I see her doing more of this.

As I have heard so many say, "it hardly seems possible that school is starting." Thus, I leave you this month with:
