TC Diary

JULY JUBILEE
TC Ranch was honored to receive this Award.
Honored to receive the BIF
“Seedstock Producer of the Year”
award in Calgary.

Vance and I start this month in Canada attending the BIF (Breed Improvement Federation) meetings. These meetings bring together industry, University and research people. The meeting are interesting and gives one a look to the future — even though some of the formulas are way too long for me. We were honored to receive the “Seedstock Producer of the Year” award. Thanks to the many that sent letters of congratulations and the kind words. I will give you a quote from two notes “You have spent many years in the Angus breed actively involved in their improvement and diligently along with blood, sweat and tears building a program that is finally receiving the accolades it certainly deserves” and “As a family that has been involved in every level of the Angus breed you have all been an example to us”. These words coming from fellow Angus breeders makes us very humble. We thank those involved for this prestige award.

Then it was home on the 4th of July to enjoy the family and some 4th celebrating. The county fair started on the 5th and Hannah had her horse, dog, calves and other 4-H projects. Tavin enjoyed the carnival rides with his friends — but said he would show when old enough.

We enjoyed the many visitors this month. The pastures were starting to get a little brown but then a 2 inch rain came and all is green again and the cattle are looking great. We have sorted the bulls calves from the heifer calves and pulled the bulls. Have some TC Franklin and TC One Way calves that are coming on strong. These are new sire groups for us and it is fun to see how they develop.

Once again Iowa did a great job of putting on the National Junior Angus Show. A big thanks to Doug and Glenda Schroeder for their hours of dedication and work. Hannah not only had her heifer and steer but also was in the beef cook-off and received two honorable mentions for her photography. She really had fun with her friends and made new friends. She told me she was going to Georgia next year.... So am sure she had a great time. The NJAS is an event that one has to experience as there are really no words to explain it.
