MAY MEMORIES
We had lots of memories this month. Friends from all over the world have overwhelmed us with so many memories of Vance by cards, calls, and visits. He would never have dreamt that he made such an impact on so many lives. Thank you all so much. All the crops are in but we are in need of rain. It certainly wasn’t any problem to get the first cutting of alfalfa up without getting it wet. The rains have been all around us so hopefully next month will be our turn. Took my mother and a couple of friends to Omaha to the Andre Rieu concert. He is one of my favorites and this show was his best hits of the past 30 years. He looked like he had aged; but then I thought if I went to a different city every night for two months I would age also. Many of the soloists are the same from past years so they must enjoy their work and travels.
Hannah showed at the Nebraska Junior Angus Show in Norfolk. It was really a nice show and she enjoyed seeing all of her friends from around the state. Her steer was Grand Champion so she had a good showing. She also entered showmanship and the team fitting contest. It’s good for kids to enter and learn from the experiences. The judges were helpful and gave pointers to the juniors. The kids that are going to the National Junior Show in Georgia put together their teams for the various competitions, and plans were made for Dru to haul the Nebraska cattle to Perry — some 17 hours drive. Tavin had a good time at the state show. He entered pee wee showmanship, helped man the pitchfork, and made new friends. He is what I call perpetual motion.
All of the cows and herd bulls are out to pasture. The bulls we have turned out are Thunder, Right Answer, Payday, Tank, and Focus In. Thus far, the pastures are holding without any rain, and the calves are doing good. Ty has finished with finals and is back home for the summer. He is anxious for a break from school. But I am guessing with the list of jobs I have to be done, he will be more than ready to get back to school in the fall. I leave you this month with . . . “Life is not the way it’s supposed to be. It’s the way it is. The way you cope with it is what makes the difference.” – Anonymous |
