TC Diary

FEBRUARY FUN

We always think February is our busy month, but this year it was not only busy but had a few extra interesting events. The guys were busy with calving. Haven’t had many problems.

We had really nice weather to prepare for the sale. It takes two days to video the cattle and one day was cold but not a blizzard like last year. It went fairly smooth. With the nice weather, Vance was able to get out and walk through the bull pens which he thoroughly enjoys. He also went several times to see the baby calves.

On the 12th Vance woke up and informed us he was getting a kidney stone. Thus, we made a quick trip to Kearney and they did surgery to put a stent in his left kidney. He was really sick for three days. Ten days later they did surgery and removed the stent but this time he did not have any trouble.

Things were going smoothly getting ready for the sale and we were even running a little ahead of schedule. But on Monday night before our Wednesday sale, Linda who works in the office broke her leg. So, in the ambulance on her way to Kearney for surgery, Connie had her making her “to do list”. However, a special angel was looking over us. Just before Linda’s accident a gal that used to help Connie called and said she did not have to work Wednesday, if we needed help. It didn’t take long for Connie to give her an answer.

Sale day at TC Ranch

It was 70 degrees on sale day, we had a big crowd, and were more than pleased with the sale. It was a really solid sale with three bulls selling for $15,000. You can find out more information about the sale by going to TC Sales and reading the report. Vance was able to be at the sale all day and enjoyed visiting with our customers and friends.

Three generations of Udens on Sale Day.

After the sale we try to catch our breath, but not this year. Two days after the sale, Vance went to Omaha for a scan. The results were not as good as we had hoped so he may take more radiation treatments. Then one day the next week we all were in Kearney. Dru had his four wisdom teeth extracted, Tavin had his tonsils out, and Vance met with several doctors. Tavin wasn’t looking forward to having his tonsils out until we told him he could have all the ice cream he wanted. Now he wants to have his tonsils out again!

Hannah enjoyed her 12th birthday party. She had a ’60s party and some girls for a sleepover. Bet there was plenty of giggling and not much sleeping. Hannah is a sweet gal and always appreciative of her gifts. She received a photo album and camera, as she really enjoys photography.

With a great sale, I leave you this month with . . .

“The sale begins when the customer says yes.”
