JANUARY JOURNEY

Grand Champion Carload shown by TC Ranch at the Denver Stock Show

In the pen at Denver
The way January has gone it doesn't look like we will be slowing down in 2006. Of course the Denver Stock Show is always the highlight of the month. We enjoy meeting new people and visiting with friends at the show. This year besides the carload of bulls we also took a pen of three fall bulls - - guess the crew thought they needed more to do. When the Denver weather is good more people go through the carloads. We had great weather and we had big crowds, and thank many for their compliments on the bulls. We were thrilled for the second year in a row to have the Grand Champion Carload. These ten bulls were sired by Tradition, Freedom, Foreman and Forefront. We felt the overall carload show was stronger than it had been the past year. Also the TC Pen of fall bulls won Reserve Champion Yearling Pen honors. It was a big day for TC Ranch.

Tavin was good help in typing the sale catalog.

Then it was back home to get ready for the sale. I think everyone should have at least one sale to know just how much work is involved. To save the cattle one time through the chute we fertility test and ultrasound at the same time. We had good weather to clip the cattle and take the catalog pictures. In the office we are typing up the catalog and getting it picture ready for the printer. One would think after 32 sales it would get easier - but it doesn't. Usually after we get the catalog to the printers the guys take us out for dinner - we didn't even make time for our evening out this year.

We have just started calving and the weather is almost too good. We are dry and need moisture.

In winning the Denver Carload show, I leave you this month with . . .
